STF Trauma Institute was created to address trauma in both children and their families. STF utilizes a holistic approach to heal intergenerational trauma, which is critical to have children thrive and live healthier lives, both mentally and physically. The Institute addresses all trauma in a unique and innovative way by focusing on the individual's plight and suffering from racial trauma. The Institute has the following comprehensive services: individual trauma therapy, family therapy, Attachment, Regulation and Competency( ARC), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), trauma behavior modification, information sessions and webinars, and a Wellness Center that provides holistic services such as yoga, meditation, mindfulness, nutritional referrals, medical referrals, acupuncture, and spiritual support.
STF Equity in Educational Initiative believes every student has the ability to accomplish academic excellence when given proper support and resources. We offer consultation and strategic planning to help foster that pursuit. Services include educational coaching, research, and access to educational resources. Funds are also provided to assist educators with instruction and student scholarships so that they can be afforded opportunities to have equal access to enrichment programs.
Our educational coaches are responsible for guiding families that are confused about how to reach their educational pursuits. The confusion is mainly due to lack of knowledge of available resources, not desire. Educational coaches support their clients with goal-setting, personal growth, behavior modification, and education of available resources. These professionals partner with the family to set goals, and once an educational program is in place, the coaches will take the lead in directing the family as they address each goal. Follow up is conducted for two years.
STF is one of a kind and the only one of its’ nature in South Florida. It is designed as a one-stop, fully comprehensive service center that continues to grow with developing research. All areas of trauma are examined. Research on racial trauma, trauma of immigrants and migrants, PTSD with Veterans, Childhood Sexual Abuse, Domestic Violence and a new therapeutic area of study of trauma sustained from poverty. Also, research has been initiated on the cultural implications of Euro-Anglo models and how they affect cultural societies and people of color. The Trauma Institute also serves as a vehicle to train other professionals in Trauma-Informed Care and provide consulting services for Cultural Competency. We provide training and consultation for organizations concerning equity and diversity with the goal of non-biased, inclusivity, and cultural sensitivity.
